Statement of the CCJ on the passing of Mr. Patrick Augustus Melvyn Manning
The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) joins with the national community of Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Caribbean Community to express its sincere condolences on the passing of Mr Patrick Augustus Mervyn Manning, former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
The CCJ salutes Mr Manning’s unflagging, committed regionalism, and his unequivocal support for the establishment of the Court. The Court acknowledges, with sincere gratitude, the steps that the late Prime Minister took to ensure that the State of Trinidad and Tobago lived up to its material obligations as the Seat of the Court.
The CCJ acknowledges the depth and breadth of Mr Manning’s vision for a united and progressive Caribbean Community. It recognises his commitment to tertiary education in the Region, a fundamental part of his vision for a developed and truly independent Caribbean society.
The Caribbean Court of Justice salutes the late Prime Minister’s contribution to the building of the Caribbean Community, its organs and institutions, and urges regional dedication to the continued enhancement of his legacy.
