XV ANNUAL CCJ INTERNATIONAL LAW MOOT

As the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) celebrates its 20th anniversary, the Annual CCJ International Law Moot commemorates 15 years of engaging law students from across the region in simulated court proceedings. Each law faculty or institution represents either the claimant or the defendant in an Original Jurisdiction case, which is presented before selected judges of the CCJ in Trinidad and Tobago. The CCJ considers the Moot an excellent opportunity to introduce regional law students to the principles of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas and to raise awareness of the Court’s Original Jurisdiction.

The Court will host the 15th milestone year of the Annual CCJ International Law Moot on 20 – 21 March 2025 at the Court’s headquarters in Port of Spain. Eight regional teams will compete in this year’s event:

  1. Eugene Dupuch Law School
  2. Hugh Wooding Law School
  3. Norman Manley Law School
  4. Anton de Kom University
  5. The University of the West Indies, St Augustine
  6. The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill
  7. The University of the West Indies, Mona
  8. University of Guyana

The Eugene Dupuch Law School from The Bahamas won last year’s competition and secured the Justice Jacob Wit Best Written Submission and Sir Henry Ford Oralist prizes. The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago was awarded the Best Academic Institution prize, while Norman Manley Law School from Jamaica received the Social Media Spirit prize.
