Ms. Sophia Chote SC

One of two persons nominated jointly by the Organisation of the Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Association (OCCBA) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Bar Associations, Trinidad and Tobago – [Article V.1 (b)]

Sophia Karen Chote SC was admitted to practice in 1989 in Trinidad and Tobago. She was admitted to the Inner Bar in 2011. She was admitted to practice in the Co-operative Republic of Guyana in 2023. She is the Head of Alpha Chambers in Trinidad and Tobago. She is a graduate of Kings College London and the Hugh Wooding Law School.

She is a member of the Council of Legal Education, Vice-President of the Organisation of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Associations, former President of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago and a former Independent Senator in the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago. She served on the Law Commission of Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Mercy Committee. She lectured at the Hugh Wooding Law School. She sat as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago in 2000. She was an active member of the Executive of the Rape Crisis Society of Trinidad and Tobago and served on other non-governmental organisations.
